The basic controller of the play station 3, or PS3, is just what it sounds like, the controller that you normally find sold with and for the PS3. There are of course other game controllers that can be purchased but they aren’t always cheap and not all of them are practical to use with certain games.
The basic controllers for the PS3 are shaped to fit the hand. They have either one or two joysticks, usually located around the thumbs and a number of buttons that have different purposes for different games.
